A record crowd turned out at the special district meeting on Saturday, May 4 to vote on two articles that would determine the future of the Cotuit Elementary School.
Article 1, which would have authorized the Prudential Committee to move forward with the demolition of the building, didn’t get the requisite 2/3 majority. The final vote was 128-90.
Article 2, which was put forth by the Cotuit Community Center citizen group, passed by a single vote – 92-91. Proponents of Article 2 requested another year to study alternative uses of the school property.
