The Parade Route
The parade begins promptly at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 4. It starts at the Cotuit Post Office on School Street, takes a left onto Main Street, and continues north on Main until the Cotuit School Building. There’s a map at the end of this post with road closures, detour recommendations, and parking information.
Road Closures
Village roads will be closed to traffic beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 4, as follows:
- Main Street from the elementary school to School Street
- Putnam Ave between Lowell Ave and Main Street
- High Street
- Coolidge Street
- School Street from Main Street to Highland Ave
All residents on these routes should let any company traveling by car know to arrive before 10 a.m.
Parking
Parking is available in the following locations:
- South side of School Street from Piney to Crockers Neck
- East side of Highland (sidewalk side)
- East Side of Old Oyster from Coolidge to Elementary School
- Cotuit Elementary School lot
- Lowell Park Lot
There is NO parade parking at the Cotuit High Ground golf course.
There is NO parking on sidewalks or lawns.
Floats and Antique Cars
If you’ve completed your application to have an antique car or a themed float in the parade, please check in at the corner of Main Street and Popponessett Road (across from Freedom Hall) starting at 9:30 a.m. All floats and antique cars should be checked in by 10:30 a.m.
Walking Groups
Registered walking groups should line up on High Street across from the Cotuit Post Office no later than 10:30 a.m.
Single Walking Participants and Bike Riders
The Cotuit Post Office is the staging area for single walking participants and bike riders.
